DESCRIPTION:Research software is not only an essential part of doing resear
ch\, but it is an important research output. The producers of pipelines\,
workflows and software packages are increasingly being recognised for thei
r contributions. How can you make\, share and maintain good research softw
are in a way that will advance your career?\n\nDo you write code for your
research? Are you making these new workflows\, pipelines\, scripts or comp
utational methods available as software? Do you see your software contribu
tions as a pathway to impact your career? If you answer yes to any of thes
e questions\, please join us!\n\nFor this panel discussion we have invited
people who invest a lot of their time\, writing\, reviewing and maintaini
ng bioinformatics software tools. We will have a wide-ranging discussion o
n how this benefits researchers and others\, the effect on career developm
ent\, research impact via software and what can be done to increase the re
cognition for this work.\n\nThe panel discussion will run for approximatel
 y 45 minutes\, followed by a Q&amp\;A session.\n\nMC: A/Prof Denis Bauer\,
  Principal Research Scientist\, Transformational Bioinformatics\, CSIRO\n\
