Creating a consistent visual identity with image generation

Image generation is often treated as a machine for producing one eye catching picture. Its more interesting educational use may be continuity. A lecturer can establish a visual style, specify a colour palette or create a recurring character or mascot that appears throughout a module. The same figure might introduce a case study, or appear in a laboratory scenario and return later to signal a reflection task. Institutional colours can be built into the prompt using hex codes, producing a recognisable visual language rather than a collection of unrelated illustrations.

This resource was developed under the project titled Empowering Education: Exploring AI for Teaching and Learning at ZHAW. The project was created in response to the 2025 Transformative Education Fund, or TEF, project call.
Its purpose is to make knowledge about artificial intelligence more accessible to teachers and to support its thoughtful use in teaching.
